Been A Long Time

In the time between now and my last post, loads of things have happened but I only have pictures of one major event that I was working feverishly towards: hosting a bridal shower for my dear friend J (Saturday, May 10).

Sunday, May 4, G (the other bridesmaid) and I got together and spent a long afternoon making Bakerella's adorable cupcake bites and boy, are they ever cute! (Now she's gone and upgraded them. I may try the upgraded version with the handy silicone mini cupcake liners I received for Christmas. Thanks S!)

I arrived at G's with two chocolate sheet cakes already baked and ready to crumble so we started by making cream cheese icing (thanks allrecipes.com).


Then I crumbled the cake into the big bowl while G mixed and mixed.


In Martha's words, here are the turds (it is hard not to giggle while you're molding these little guys.) We also received weary looks from G's husband.

By now the turds have been molded (I happen to have Bakerella's third recommended cookie cutter for this task) chilled, and bottoms dipped on:



After they ALL dipped on their chocolate pants, G dipped pink hats on them after which I added a Smartie and sprinkled my heart out.


Here they are packaged and my photography is getting increasingly worse because a. I'm tired and b. I'm losing natural light.

I wish I had pictures of the actual shower but I was too busy playing hostess to bust out the camera. I'm hunting, trust.
